There are many reasons to collect young artists' works.
First of all, the risks is comparatively small, cause they
are still alive, so they can prove the genuineness of the
works. Secondly, the prices are reasonable, lot of money will
be saved. Third, an outstanding young artist always has a
good future. At last, investment on contemporary art works
usually has a higher return than others.
But there are still many risks in such investments: Not
all talented young artists could be famous. Every artist has
a mature cycle, but we are not sure how long the cycle will
last.

Therefore, an art investor also has to cooperate with the
art experts or institutions before reach a decision.
Now we can see some examples of Chinese young artists. Xia Junna,
whose works are welcomed by investors in China, is only 29 years
old. After came out of campus in 1995, she chose Hanmoshu Gallery
as her proxy. At first her work was only at RMB15,000 (150cm),
but as recognized by more and more investors, then in 1997 her
work reached the price at RMB35,000, then RMB50,000 in 1998,
RMB80,000 in 1999. Her school fellow Ji Dachun, also attracted
the notice from those investors. In 1996 his work was at the
price of RMB4,000, then RMB10,000 in 1997, 15,000 in 1998, 20,000
