                          Long March Space

     

    The Long March Space is the leading independent artspace in China.  It is located in the dynamic Dashanzi Art District (Factory 798), the center of Beijing's cultural trends and fashion.  The Long March Space's projects are dedicated to the fundamental questions of the relationship between curating, display and artistic creation, between practice and discourse, between objects and text, and between audience and artists.  With over 2,500 square meters (26,000 sq ft) of exhibition space, the Long March Space acts as a platform for international and local, organizing exhibitions, symposiums, lectures, curating, consulting, artist residencies, independent projects, and publishing. 

    The Long March Methodology involves thinking about the historical consciousness and social nature of artistic creation and display, exploring how art connects with the broader masses, and how visual displays reveal their underlying political, social, economic, historical, geographical, and humanistic backgrounds.  The Long March Space was founded in 2002 by Lu Jie, who also serves as its director.
