Retrospective Exhibition on 30th Anniversaries of Jinshan Peasant Painting was inaugurated at Bund 18 Yesterday.

Since January 1977, 162 paintings created by Jinshan peasants was showcased at Shanghai Art Gallery, the peasant painting has enjoyed history of 30 years. Minister of Culture, Mr. Sun Jiazheng highly extolled the painting as the Picasso of China".An estimated, the artists and visitors from more than 160 countries and regions will pay visit to the exhibition.

Originated from Jinshan folk art with long history, the Jinshan peasant painting has been explored and developed into the modern painting style. The painting features the landscape, folk tradition, and people along the south Changjiang River. The painting is full of imagination, focusing the contrast of hue, exploring the decorative beauty, fusing the skills of embroiders, sculpture, paper-cut, blue calico and lacquer.
