Paintings of Youth Cruelty: Unconscious Hurt

From late 1990s, A kind of youth painting appeared in China, the basic theme of such kind of paintings is "Hurt".Hurt is the the common experiences of those born in 1960s.They felt such hurt in 1990.Most of the artists are from Sichuan Province, including Xin Haizhou,Xie Nanxing,He Seng,Zhao Zhineng.

The earliest Paintings on such theme are the works by Liu Xiaodong and Zhao Bandi. They put importance on the yong people's attitute toward personal life and the society.

Youth Paintings discribe a kind of self-disordered and splitted visual experiences:rage, gloom, suspicion.Different from the "new-born" artists, painters in such group want to present the self-analysis.

The basic characteristic of such paintings are photography, they are understanded as more realistic than photography.

Paintings of Youth Cruelty are more like a interview of the memory of the intelligentsia.
